Hangover 3, 300 Sequel, and Pacific Rim get release dates

Warner Bros. is already calling dibs on some big opening weekends for 2013.

It was announced today that THE HANGOVER PART III will be opening on May 24th. Todd Phillips will be returning to direct Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galifianakis. Rumors have been going around that this third film will change the format and setting that was used in the first two films. Looks like we will find out in just about a year.

Also announced was the August 2nd opening for 300: BATTLE OF ARTEMESIA. Noam Murro will direct Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green in the prequel to Zack Snyder’s film. I am keeping my expectations low for this one seeing as Murro has only directed one other film, the comedy SMART PEOPLE.

WB also moved Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM from May 10th to July 12th, which can only be considered a vote of confidence in the action horror film. Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam, and Charlie Day all star in robots versus aliens tale.

I am looking forward to PACIFIC RIM very much. THE HANGOVER PART III is going to have to work hard to win be back after the second film. The 300 sequel has me in line already if only because Eva Green is in it.
