There’s a certain joy in watching something you cherished as a child corrupted in your adult life. Whether it be turned into something twisted and scary or sexy and x-rated. Where am I going with this? Well the classic fairytale of HANSEL & GRETEL is in line for a genre retelling!

According to The Hollywood Reporter Gary Sanchez Productions and Paramount have just tapped Dante Harper to work on the script for HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS. They’ve even got a director in the form of DEAD SNOW’s Tommy Wirkola. So what’s this bad boy about? Check it: WITCH HUNTERS picks up the fairy-tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch bounty hunters. Nice.

Ready to see Hansel and Gretel kicking ass? The film is described as a ‘gory-but-funny horror-action comedy in the veign of SHAUN OF THE DEAD’ and comes from producers Kevin Messick, Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Chris Henchy. Well there’s an interesting duo in there: Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. So will HANSEL AND GRETEL be along that sort of comedy? Intriguing.
