Hell of a Summer: Finn Wolfhard horror comedy adds D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Abby Quinn, Pardis Saremi

Last week, it was officially announced that Stranger Things and Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Finn Wolfhard will be directing a horror comedy called Hell of a Summer alongside Billy Bryk, who also appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It was said that Wolfhard and Bryk will both have acting roles in Hell of a Summer, as will Fred Hechinger (the Fear Street trilogy). And now the names of three more cast members have been revealed. They are D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), Abby Quinn (Mad About You), and Pardis Saremi (Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem).

Details on the characters are being kept under wraps, and so are plot details. Last November, Wolfhard said that he was planning to make his feature directorial debut with “a horror-comedy-slasher movie that takes place at a camp”, so he was probably talking about Hell of a Summer.

30West is financing and executive producing Hell of a Summer, and will be handling worldwide rights sales. Hechinger is producing the film alongside Aggregate Films, Parts and Labor Production, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, Drew Brennan, and Jay Van Hoy.

Filming is currently underway in Ontario, Canada. Wolfhard provided the following statement last week: “I am so excited to be co-directing my first feature film. I get the chance to work with an incredible cast and crew, and to work with a company like 30West and Aggregate is a real dream.

Aside from Wolfhard and Hechinger, I’m not familiar with any of the actors (I have watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but probably wouldn’t be able to point out Bryk), but that’s not an issue. I was sold on Hell of a Summer as soon as Wolfhard described it as a “horror comedy slasher movie that takes place at a camp”.
