Adaptation of Danish psycho killer book The Keeper of Lost Causes in the works

Scandinavian crime novels are all the rage these days. After Steig Larsson’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and its subsequent sequels captivated the globe, it seems that numerous writers from the region are benefiting. The latest is Jussi Adler-Olsen, whose psychological thriller THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES, is entering development, with TrustNordisk repping the film at Cannes next week.

Nikolaj Arcel, the scribe behind the original adaptation of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, is writing KEEPER, along with Mikkel Nørgaard, director of Danish box office smash KLOWN (which is currently in the process of being remade with Danny McBride).

The story focuses on two cops who become obsessed with a five-year old case involving a missing woman. Their investigations lead them on a pan-Scandinavian search for a psycho killer.

Shooting is expected to begin in October; Zentropa Entertainments20 will produce with Danish broadcaster TV2. No cast has been set as of yet.
