Filmmaker Boaz Yakin has been involved with several horror projects as a producer (2001 MANIACS, HOSTEL, HOSTEL: PART II) and writer (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 2: TEXAS BLOOD MONEY), but he had never gotten behind the camera for one himself until his latest film, the eighth feature he has directed, which is called BOARDING SCHOOL.

Yakin also wrote the screenplay, with the story being described as "a horrifying fable". The setting is

an ominous boarding school where children deemed ‘undesirable’ are committed. Twelve-year-old Jacob Felson is sent away by his stepfather to the mysterious school run by a peculiar couple, Dr. Sherman and his dominating wife. When one of the students is found dead, Jacob begins to suspect something much more sinister is going on than education.

Luke Prael stars as Jacob, with Will Patton and Tammy Blanchard (pictured below) as the peculiar Sherman couple. Also in the cast are Samantha Mathis (above) and Sterling Jerins.

BOARDING SCHOOL was produced by Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray, Scott Lochmus, and Jason Orans. Jonathan Gray, Jeffrey Arsenault, Hadar Burger, Dillon Jordan, Marco Vicini, and Jordan Schur served as executive producers. The film is currently in post-production and the international sales rights have been acquired by IM Global.

After so many years of Yakin directing dramas, thrillers, and family friendly movies while working on horror on the side – his previous directing credits include REMEMBER THE TITANS, UPTOWN GIRLS, and the Jason Statham movie SAFE – I'm looking forward to seeing how he has handled making a horror movie of his own.
