Child’s Play TV Series coming in 2020

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As all of us know by this point in time, there is a CHILD'S PLAY: TV SERIES in development over at SyFy. Supposedly it will be called CHUCKY and it's coming our way via franchise screenwriter Don Mancini and executive producers David Kirschner and Nick Antosca. And today we have word from Mancini himself over on Twitter that the powers that be behind the scenes are targeting a 2020 premiere for the must-see series.

Simply, Mancini writes:

TV series! 2020! 🙂

The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in that it will also be going back to the idea at the center of those first two movies: the idea of Chucky targeting children. While the series will be telling a new story with new characters, it does still take place after the events of all seven of the films and will be consistent with that mythology. Brad Dourif will be providing the voice of Chucky and other actors from the films such as Jennifer Tilly and Fiona Dourif may appear on the show.

The most recent entry in the Mancini CHUCKY series was CULT OF CHUCKY. That entry was written and directed by Mancini and produced by David Kirschner and Ogden Gavanski. It starred Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Michael Therriault as Dr. Fole, Adam Hurtig as "Multiple" Malcolm / Michael, Elisabeth Rosen as Madeleine, Grace Lynn Kung as Claire, Martina Stephenson Kerr as Angela, Zak Santiago as Nurse Carlos, Ali Tataryn as Nurse Ashley, and Brad Dourif as the voice of all those Chucky dolls. Special appearances included Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, Summer H. Howell as Alice Pierce, and Christine Elise as Kyle. In that movie:

Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica, who is confined to an asylum for the criminally insane. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife.

Then there is, of course, MGM and director Lars Klevberg's upcoming remake which stars Gabriel Bateman as Andy Barclay, Aubrey Plaza as Karen Barclay, Andy’s mother, Brian Tyree Henry as Detective Mike Norris, Tim Matheson as Henry Kaslan, founder and CEO of the company that manufactures the Buddi doll, and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.
