Cult classic Brain Damage gets a sweet Blu-ray release from Arrow Video

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

As it just so happens, even though I am what many people would call a "fuc*ing crazy horror movie nutjob" there comes a time when there is a classic of the genre I have not seen. I know, crazy, right? It happens. So, as the story goes I have a list of films I need to watch as a horror buff. I go through it as often as possible and check the flicks off.

One such night I decided to double feature to horror-comedies I'd been meaning to peep for ages. So I threw on Brian Yuzna's SOCIETY and Frank Henenlotter's BRAIN DAMAGE.

Yeah. That happened. Can you imagine watching SOCIETY and BRAIN DAMAGE for the first time, both on the same night? It was, haha, mind-blowing. Must have been what it was like back in June of 1984 when GHOSTBUSTERS and GREMLINS opened on the same exact day.

By the way, if I could time-travel, I'd go back to that day. Epic.

Anyhow the classic BRAIN DAMAGE is getting a proper and slick Blu-Ray release from Arrow Video. And if you order the disc through DiabolikDVD and exclusive enamel "Elmer" pin badge.

Here are all the details:

IT’S A HEADACHE FROM HELL!

From Frank Henenlotter, the man behind such cult horror favourites as Basket Case and Frankenhooker, comes Brain Damage – the ultimate head-trip, now finally on Blu-ray!

Meet Elmer. He’s your local, friendly parasite with the ability to induce euphoric hallucinations in his hosts. But these LSD-like trips come with a hefty price tag. When young Brian comes under Elmer’s addictive spell, it’s not long before he finds himself scouring the city streets in search of his parasite’s preferred food source – brains!

Featuring late TV horror host John Zacherley as the voice of Elmer, Brain Damage boasts some of the most astonishing bad taste gore-gags ever realized, including the notorious “brain-pulling sequence” and a blow-job that ends with a distinctly unconventional climax.
