Dennis Villenueve's sequel to 1982's BLADE RUNNER has been pretty tight-lipped about any details, but we know a couple things. We know the cast. We know it's currently shooting in Budapest. And now… We know the title! That's right, the official announcement has been made that next year we will be piling into theaters to see BLADE RUNNER 2049.

OK, maybe it's not the most creative name, but at least we know what the hell to call it now. The original film was set in the year 2019 (Only two years after this sequel comes out! We're living in the future.), so this means the second installment will be taking place three decades after the original. I can't wait to see how the futuristic Earth has changed in that time, even though I'm disappointed our current society is nowhere near developing the technology Ridley Scott dreamed about in 1982.

Below, you can check out a photo from the set featuring Villenueve, Scott, Ford, and Gosling!

The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, and stars Ryan Gosling together with Harrison Ford, reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. Story details are not being revealed.

BLADE RUNNER 2040 also stars Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Dave Bautista, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Lennie James, and Hiam Abbass. The screenplay was penned by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, from a story by Ridley Scott and Fancher. The film is produced by Alcon Entertainment.

The film will run into theaters on October 6, 2017.
