Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer didn’t spoil the “big stuff”

Recently we were hit with the killer first trailer for director Jason Reitman's upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE. The trailer gave us our first look at the cast and the upgraded Ecto-1. But no worries, STRANGER THINGS actor Finn Wolfhard says the teaser didn't reveal the "big stuff" yet.

Wolfhard said:

It’s a very surface-level [trailer]. There’s footage, but you have not seen the big stuff yet.

He then adds:

There’s a lot of practical effects and a lot of the effects that you think would be CGI are not.

GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE is said to focus on a family

who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.

The cast currently includes Carrie Coon as a single mother, with Finn Wolfhard as her son, Mckenna Grace as her daughter, and Paul Rudd as a teacher. GHOSTBUSTERS stars set to return include Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, and Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore.

As if you need a refresher, the original film began:

After the members of a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

Directed by Jason Reitman from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Gil Kenan based on the original film which was written by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman. GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE is produced by Ivan Reitman. It hits a theater near you on July 10, 2020.
