Well folks we already know that talented filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has left the world of THE HOBBIT. We also know that the man’s next project will be the long awaited AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, which has none other than James ‘Avatar’ Cameron along to produce. But what about some of del Toro’s other projects? We’ve recently heard the director talk about projects like FRANKENSTEIN and THE HAUNTED MANSION… but where’s the HELLBOY love? Well folks if you’ve been wondering the same thing then sit back and check out today’s update!
The guys over at MTV were kind enough to ask del Toro what we are all thinking: What’s the deal with HELLBOY 3? Del Toro’s response:
“You know, I think that everyone should ask Ron [Perlman]. I had dinner with [Perlman] last night. He said ‘six hours [in the makeup chair], what do you want?'” And he’s doing ‘Sons of Anarchy’ without makeup. He’s spoiled! He likes to be the big cheese without the makeup session. … I would love to do it. But the heartbreak for me is that I know how it ends and I don’t know if I want to see that ending. But I would love to do it.”
So del Toro is game! All he’s waiting on is for Perlman to give the go-ahead. Now I can understand how much of a pain in the ass it is to sit in the makeup chair for six hours… but I can’t imagine Perlman not being game for another round as Big Red. Hell especially if this is his last hoorah, ya know? Plus I can understand del Toro (above) not wanting to end his beloved franchise but then again I can’t imagine the filmmaker not wanting to finish the story, can you? My gut tells me we’ll be seeing HELLBOY 3, just not in the immediate future.
What do you guys think? Think we’ll be seeing HELLBOY 3 sooner rather than later or is this one destined to stay in development hell? Hit us with your thoughts below and check out the video from MTV to hear the man himself talk shop! As always as soon as we hear any other HELLBOY news we’ll be sure to pass it along to all of you!
