Leslie Jones: New Ghostbusters an insulting d*ck move

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

As we all know by this point in time, director Jason Reitman has an all-new GHOSTBUSTERS movie headed our way in the Summer of 2020. The movie will be a sequel to the original movies and NOT a reboot, thank God. But we did get a reboot a few years back from director Paul Feig that starred Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig. You might remember it. And today one of that movie's stars, Leslie Jones, is not happy about the new movie and she's not holding back the punches. Zero. In fact, if you have small children in the room – or a boss that likes to hover over shoulders – now is the time to send them along their little way. As Michael Parks in RED STATE says, "It's about to get grown-up in here…"

Leslie Jones on new GHOSTBUSTERS:

So insulting. Like fuck us. We didn't count. It’s something Trump would do. (Trump voice)”Gonna redo ghostbusters, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusters” ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!

She then goes on to say:

It’s sad that this is the response I get. When the point is if they make this new one with all men and it does well which it will. It might feel that “boys are better” it makes my heart drop. Maybe I could have use different words but I’m allowed to have my feelings just like them.

Okay, it's now safe to bring the children and lurking bosses back into the room. Let's discuss. Personally, I don't think Fieg's GHOSTBUSTERS was terrible. And I don't blame Jones for being upset. But that said, as a fan of GHOSTBUSTERS, I'll take any movie I can get at this point. Comparing Sony to Trump seems a bit harsh, but then again, I'm not the one out of a job because of this new movie. What do YOU think? Let us know below!

For those of you that might not know, the all-female GHOSTBUSTERS movie followed this synopsis:

Paranormal researcher Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) and physicist Erin Gilbert are trying to prove that ghosts exist in modern society. When strange apparitions appear in Manhattan, Gilbert and Yates turn to engineer Jillian Holtzmann for help. Also joining the team is Patty Tolan, a lifelong New Yorker who knows the city inside and out. Armed with proton packs and plenty of attitude, the four women prepare for an epic battle as more than 1,000 mischievous ghouls descend on Times Square.

GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) was directed by Paul Feig from a screenplay written by Katie Dippold and Feig based on the original film by Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis. Reitman and Amy Pascal produced the reboot/sequel and it starred Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams, Chris Hemsworth, and the above-mentioned Leslie Jones.
