Marilyn Manson’s Phantasmagoria: Visions Of Lewis Carroll scores a trailer!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

One dude that looks like he was born for the genre is musician and proud freak Marilyn Manson. Now normally Manson wouldn’t have much of a place here at AITH, seeing how the gothic one doesn’t really do much when it comes to the film side of the genre. But alas, could it be? Will Manson be stepping over to try his hand at the horror film? Why yes, it seems like he’ll be doing just that!

Actually we kind of already knew about this. Back in November Jake hit you all with the news that the gorgeous Lily Cole would be stepping in to star in Manson’s PHANTASMAGORIA: THE VISIONS OF LEWIS CARROLL. Well that’s a mouthful.

In Victorian times, where an author who lives by himself in a castle, has visions of a girl named Alice. His name is Lewis Carroll and he finds himself terrified of what waits for him each night. He has become a symptom of his own invention. “Now all my nightmares know my name.” Cole would play Alice with Mason playing Lewis Carroll. The psychological horror film explores that relationship.

That’s all fine and dandy, but what’s been going on with this project? Well over at Marilyn-Manson.net a brand new video just popped up that might get all you Manson fans excited! It seems a teaser trailer, and I mean tease in every sense of the word, just came out of hiding and we’ve got that shite over in our videos section! Or directly below. Whichever floats your boat. Scope out the description from Marilyn-Manson.net:

Teaser trailer for the Marilyn Manson-intended, written and directed, feature-length film titled ‘Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll’. Originally conceived in 2004 with pre-production through-out 2005 via The Wild Bunch (UK) and with an initial budget of $5-7 Million, ‘Phantasmagoria’ was due to begin filming in 2006 and is now on indefinite production hold. Lily Cole, inspiration of Tim Burton’s recent ‘Alice in Wonderland’, was originally cast as Manson’s Alice for ‘Phantasmagoria’.

This teaser also features real-life twin sisters engaging in questionable acts and burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese in artistic, full-nude. The figure in the medical mask is artist Gottfried Helnwein and the bird-face masked character and white gloved Lewis Carroll impresario, is Marilyn Manson. Voiceover and audio, copyright Marilyn Manson. We contributed; script-writing, post-production, visual fx, camera work, graphic design, set design, etc. Produced in 2005, re-worked in 2006.

Originally cast? Does that mean Cole is no longer part of this project. A more detailed update would’ve been nice but who’re we to complain? We are treated to a pretty cool trailer after all. Scope it out below and keep it here for more on PHANTASMAGORIA as we hear it!
