Michael Biehn’s The Victim gets final trailer

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

We at Arrow In The Head love Michael (TERMINATOR, GRINDHOUSE) Biehn. Though he’s mostly regarded as a cult favorite these days, it is my belief the man who made names like Hicks and Reese iconic among sci-fi action heroes will forever be playing on the same field of bad asses as an Arnold, Sly, or Van Damme. Which is why the final trailer for Biehn’s directorial debut, THE VICTIM, intrigues me so.

After watching the preview for myself, it’s clear THE VICTIM is hyping itself as an exploitation thriller with the intention of taking Biehn’s typically rugged and noble brand of archetype and subverting it into something much darker. Reminding me very much of Ryan Gosling’s ultraviolent character in the similarly pulpy DRIVE, Biehn’s backwoods savior seems to have a more intense violent streak than your usual action hero, which should make for a refreshing new take on the rural revenge genre.

Courtesy of Anchor Bay, THE VICTIM opens August 24th at NYC’s Quad Cinema and September 7th at Los Angeles’ New Beverly Cinema. The DVD/Blu-ray drop date is September 18th. Check out the footage and synopsis below to remember why no one f*cks with the Biehn.

Good time girls Annie (Jennifer Blanc) and Mary (Danielle Harris) find themselves in a life and death situation. Annie’s life is put in jeopardy when she is witness to a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies. Fleeing from attackers (Ryan Honey, Denny Kirkwood) she stumbles across Kyle (Michael Biehn), a recluse living in the middle of the woods. The ruggedly handsome loner stays far from civilization – that is – until a single knock on his door throws his solitary life into chaos. Two worlds collide in this psychological thriller that will make you question your trust in mankind. Who is the Victim?
