New Hellboy R-Rated sizzle reel brings in the gore!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It is our pleasure to add one hell of a punch to your Friday night by debuting a new R-rated trailer for Neil Marshall's HELLBOY! As part of the lead up to the new film, THE DESCENT helmer's version of Big Red's latest adventure has been promising to bring the blood, guts, and ghouls to Mike Mignola's classic series, and now, you'll definitely see why.

Here's the official synopsis for HELLBOY:

Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour, “Stranger Things”) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil series), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

As you can see from the trailer above, HELLBOY looks pretty fucking brutal, with enough of blood, innards, and decapitations to sooth even the most savage of beasts. It's the sort of stuff that dark dreams are made of, especially if you're looking forward to Big Red and his B.P.R.D. cohorts taking full advantage of the the film's mature rating. What's more is that the trailer also gives us a great look at both Milla Jovovich's Blood Queen as well as Thomas Haden Church's Lobster Johnson. Both characters stand to bring plenty to the rebooted HELLBOY universe, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are even more surprises waiting for us when the film arrives in theaters on April 12th.
