Nicolas Cage Drive Angry

A movie called MANDY just became one of my most anticipated future releases. Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the action thriller, which sounds like a mixture of previous Cage vehicles GHOST RIDER and DRIVE ANGRY.

A SpectreVision production with BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW's Panos Cosmatos attached to direct, MANDY is set

in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Red Miller, a broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.

Cage going after a cult that killed a loved one is straight out of DRIVE ANGRY, but where does the GHOST RIDER element come in? From SpectreVision's Head of Development Daniel Noah promise of demon bikers:

Panos is one of the most vital young filmmakers alive, a pop-culture Kubrick in the making. Nicolas Cage is a veritable god to those of us who grew up watching his classic performances. Bringing these two together for this surrealist, heavy-metal-soaked story of battle axes and demon bikers is unfathomably exciting to us."

Let's take a moment to appreciate that description. A "surrealist, heavy-metal-soaked story of battle axes and demon bikers". I'm not sure it's possible for a description to get any cooler than that, but things do get even better when you keep in mind that the film is going to be set in the '80s.

This sounds amazing. MANDY is going to be a must-see.

Pre-production is currently underway on this incredible project, with filming expected to begin in Belgium this summer.

MANDY is being produced by Noah, Josh C. Waller, and Elijah Wood of SpectreVision, along with XYZ Films' Nate Bolotin and Umedia's Adrian Politowski. Nick Spicer, Lisa Whalen, Todd Brown, Martin Metz, Peter Bevan, Christopher Figg, and Robert Whitehouse serve as executive producers. Umedia and Piccadilly Pictures are handling the funding.
