The big event starts tomorrow night with early screenings: TOY STORY 4 vs. the CHILD'S PLAY remake on their shared opening weekend. I think we're all certain that TOY STORY 4 is going to be making a lot more money than the new Chucky movie, but Chucky has certainly won the battles he has been waging against TOY STORY characters on a series of posters. He has taken out the TOY STORY franchise's biggest stars, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, and also murdered their pals Slinky Dog and Mr. Potato Head.

Now the dinosaur toy Rex and the piggy bank Hamm have been added to Chucky's body count with the release of two more posters that take a jab at CHILD'S PLAY's box office competition.

Well, TOY STORY 4 and CHILD'S PLAY aren't really in competition, they're aimed at different audiences and are going to make whatever they make without stealing many viewers from each other, but Chucky seems to think they're competing.

The new CHILD'S PLAY was directed by Lars Klevberg from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith. The film stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke, and tells the familiar story of

a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

This time around Chucky is "an obsolete model of the bestselling Buddi doll with a glitch in his chip and the ability to control a vast network of interconnected devices." Mark Hamill provides the voice for this new take on the iconic character.

CHILD'S PLAY was produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions and is being released by MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures through their United Artists Releasing banner.

The official release date is June 21st, but many theatres will begin showing it tomorrow evening.
