Terminator: Dark Fate aiming for $35-45M opening weekend

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Producer James Cameron and DEADPOOL director Tim Miller's TERMINATOR: DARK FATE starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will be unleashed this November. And today we're hearing that DARK FATE is heading for an opening weekend tally of $35 – 45 million.

The site lists the "Pros" going for the movie as the reunion of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton as well as James Cameron's role as a hands-on producer this time around. The major "Con" is that the franchise has seen a sharp decline with each new sequel over the last 16 years.

It breaks down like this:

T2: JUDGMENT DAY ($205.9 million)

T3: RISE OF THE MACHINES ($150.4 million)

TERMINATOR: SALVATION ($125.3 million)

TERMINATOR: GENISYS ($89.8 million)

I guess this number makes sense to me. I mean I wish it was a bit more substantial but being that the series is finally returning to its hard R-rated roots with this new entry, I guess it makes sense that that may cut the box-office down a bit. The new film follows:

Sarah Connor as she joins forces with a female cyborg to protect a young girl from a powerful new Terminator.

Goyer, Justin Rhodes and Billy Ray based on a story conceived by James Cameron, Charles Eglee, Josh Friedman, David Goyer, and Justin Rhodes. Cameron and Ellison are the sequel's producers and Dana Goldberg serves as executive producer alongside Don Granger, Edward Cheng, Tim Miller, John J. Kelly, Bonnie Curtis, and Julie Lynn. The film will star Schwarzenegger and Hamilton, along with Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes, and Diego Boneta.
