Trailer: Greg McLean takes Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell into The Darkness

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Director Greg McLean has brought us films about a madman terrorizing the Australian outback (WOLF CREEK, WOLF CREEK 2) and crocodile turning tourists into lunch (ROGUE), and now he’s venturing into the supernatural thriller side of the genre with his latest movie, THE DARKNESS, for which he has teamed with popular horror producer Jason Blum.

In association with High Top Releasing, Blum’s BH Tilt will be unleashing THE DARKNESS into theatres on Friday, May 13th. If you need something to hold you over until then, a trailer for the film can be viewed below.

McLean wrote the screenplay with Shayne Armstrong and S.P. Krause. The story they came up with:

As a family returns home from vacation at the Grand Canyon, they innocently bring home a supernatural force that preys off their own fears and vulnerabilities, threatening to destroy them from within, while consuming their lives with terrifying consequences.

McLean then assembled a great cast to bring that story to life, pairing his ROGUE star Radha Mitchell with Kevin Bacon, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh, and Jennifer Morrison.

While the trailer makes this haunted house story look like it will be quite an intense viewing experience, my favorite thing about it is simply seeing FRIDAY THE 13TH victim Kevin Bacon in a new trailer with the words “Friday the 13th” in it.
