Are The Weinstein Company’s Kristy and Satanic one in the same?

I’m still trying to connect the dots on this one, but hopefully my assumptions are on the right track. Last week , Box Office Mojo listed a horror movie called SATANIC for release August 30, 2013 by The Weinstein Company. THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY star Haley Bennett was listed to star in the film, but no other details were listed.

Now, Variety is reporting that KRISTY, described as a “ROSEMARY’S BABY”-esque horror film, is moving forward under the hand of The Weinstein Company and Dimension. Haley Bennett is attached to star with DONKEY PUNCH director Oliver Blackburn helming. Guys, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure this could be the same project as SATANIC.

The plot doesn’t give away any further devil-y associations, but here it is anyway: “…the story follows a girl who is alone on campus over the Thanksgiving break when a random encounter with a gang of violent outcasts leads to target her as their next victim. To survive, she must conquer her deepest fears to outwit them and fight back.”

Again, nothing has been confirmed by either the Weinsteins, talent reps, or other news outlets, but how many Weinstein-produced horror flicks could Bennett be attached to for release next year?
