Hugh Jackman deals with embezzlement and scandal in Bad Education trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In BAD EDUCATION, Hugh Jackman has ditched grizzled side-burns and adamantium claws for embezzlement and scandal. The new trailer for the upcoming HBO movie finds Jackman starring as Dr. Frank Tassone, the superintendent of the Roslyn School District in Long Island who makes a crucial mistake which hints at corruption spanning decades and millions of dollars worth of theft. When a student reporter begins to put together the pieces, Tassone is forced to deal with the fallout of the scandal in a desperate attempt to protect all those involved.

Based on a true story, BAD EDUCATION was scripted by Mike Makowsky and directed by Cory Finley. In addition to Hugh Jackman, the film also stars Allison Janney, Ray Romano, Geraldine Viswanathan, Alex Wolff, Rafael Casal, and Annaleigh Ashford. Our own Chris Bumbray caught the film when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and called the film a "compelling vehicle" for Hugh Jackman.  "One thing that's especially interesting about Finley's film is how a balance is struck between sympathy for Jackman and his cronies and the need we feel to see them all taken down," Bumbray said in his review.

The official synopsis for BAD EDUCATION:

Inspired by true events, Bad Education stars Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman and Academy Award winner Allison Janney. The story follows Frank Tassone (Jackman) and Pam Gluckin (Janney) who reign over a popular Long Island school district on the verge of the nation’s top spot, spurring record college admissions and soaring property values. But when an embezzlement scheme surfaces that threatens to destroy all they’ve built, Frank is forced to maintain order and secrecy — by whatever means necessary.

BAD EDUCATION will debut on HBO on April 25, 2020.
