It's been a busy year at TIFF for Netflix, with the streamer having spent big bucks acquiring PIECES OF A WOMAN, Halle Berry's BRUISED and, in their biggest deal of the year, MALCOLM & MARIE starring Zendaya and John David Washington. Now, it looks like Netflix is at it again, picking up the break-out thriller I CARE A LOT, starring Rosamund Pike as an unscrupulous legal conservator whose eldercare scheme is jeopardized when she runs afoul of a cold-blooded mobster, played by the great Peter Dinklage.
The deal, which The Wrap reports is in the $10 million range, doesn't give Netflix exclusive worldwide rights but does include some big territories, including the U.S & Latin America, although it seems like the UK and Canada are not in on the deal yet. I saw I CARE A LOT a few weeks ago (read my review here) and can say this – Rosamund Pike hasn't been this good since GONE GIRL and Dinklage is great too. I'm eager for more folks to get a look at this one. Chris Messina, Eiza González, & Dianne Wiest co-star in director J Blakeson's film.
