If you want more boobies and fish, a sequel for Piranha 3D is in the works

PIRANHA 3D was definitely the guilty pleasure movie of this weekend. It didn’t chomp down on the macho man-wall that is THE EXPENDABLES. But it did settle with a nice $10 million opening.

Between the buzz and the “dolla dolla bills ya’ll”, Dimension has decide to gear up for a sequel. A press release was issued stating that helmer Alexandre Aja and producer Mark Canton would be back on board. Canton was excited about how well the film did, “We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving PIRANHA 3D, but cheering for it. And it’s fantastic that so many critics are really getting the movie and recommending it. We can’t wait to get to work on the sequel.”

So any early ideas on what the sequel might be like? More topless drunken escapades? Close. EW sites that in an interview last week, Aja was throwing out some possible scenarios, “We had many ideas, like the full moon party in Thailand — a huge event with like 200,00 young people from all around the world taking mushrooms and partying on the beach.” Mushrooms? Oh that will be a fun thing to play around with in the script.

Did you guys check out PIRANHA 3D this week? Did you love it? Would you be down for a sequel? All I have to say is God bless Elisabeth Shue.
