Insomnifest is quickly approaching at about a month away. In case you didn’t know, it’s an online film festival from the guys over at Slasher Pool. I’ve been keeping you in the know with what films have been announced thus far, the last announcement being over here.
Well they’ve just announced two more flicks, COMPLEXX and FEAR HOUSE. According to the website, there’s spots for only 2 more films, so be on the lookout for the last announcement. Here’s the rundown on COMPLEXX and FEAR HOUSE:
The synopsis for COMPLEXX is: Gamers from all over Holland have gathered at a game convention to find out about the latest game. After the convention, most of the gamers go home, but for a few of them, the night has just begun. Some have received text messages saying that they should stay in the building after everyone has left and play a new game. Since the prize money is 1 million euros, they all decide to stay, unknowing of the terror that awaits them. Someone has taken the game just a bit too far. It’s directed by Robert Arthur Jansen and stars Sander Foppele, Kirsten Walraad, Arne Hazenbroek, Yolanthe van Kasbergen, Sebastiaan Labrie, and Klarissa Patijn. FEAR HOUSE reads: Relatives and colleagues of reclusive writer Samantha Ballard track her to an isolated house in the California desert where they discover a traumatized Samantha. She greets them with the grim announcement that they will die if they attempt to leave the house. After Samantha¹s ex-husband and his girlfriend suffer horrible deaths while trying to escape, the others realize that she was serious. They begin to scheme a safe way out even as the malevolent force that rules the house stirs the worst fears of each of them, causing them to wonder: Can they escape the evil house before their fears kill them all? Directed by Michael R. Morris, it stars Aleece Jones, Matthew Stiller, Olivia Price, Matthew Montgomery, and Meredith Barnett.
Not bad. Granted, COMPLEXX seems like SAW meets STAY ALIVE. But after checking out the trailer, I’d definately check it out. FEAR HOUSE sounds pretty cool too, although apparently they consider it a ‘torture porn’ and we all know those are dead and buried. Both have me intrigued though.
Insomnifest is the first ever online horror film festival and will be broadcasted for the entire world to view over a two week period in February of 2008 at www.insomnifest.com. The festival will take place between the 14th of February and the 26th of February. We will be showing twelve horror flicks from all over the world and several of them will be world premieres.
