The first teaser for Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR has arrived, albeit in the form of an international one. Unless you speak the language (Russian?), then you'll be lost on the dialogue, but the imagery from Scott is unmistakable. Based on author Cormac McCarthy's original screenplay, the film stars Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, and Penelope Cruz in the story of a lawyer (Fassbender) who gets mixed up in drug trafficking with tragic results. The teaser is more than enough to whet your appetite for the film, which sits atop my most anticipated of the fall season.

This is a dream cast working with a dream creative team. I would be shocked if this was anything less than awesome. I think it comes down to expectations, though, as the author of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THE ROAD certainly doesn't play to the usual tropes and archetypes. For me, that's a selling point, but for those looking for a traditional story, I'm pretty sure THE COUNSELOR won't fill that desire.
THE COUNSELOR is set for release on October 25, 2013.
