Lucky Strike is the latest collaboration between Scott Eastwood and director Rod Lurie. The two offered up the impressive feature, 2019’s The Outpost. Their upcoming new film tells the exciting story of a lone, wounded soldier trapped behind enemy lines. Taking place during the Battle of the Bulge, the focus is on Scott Eastwood’s character. And yes, the man offers a bit of charisma and charm as the desperate soldier. It’s nice work.
Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with both Mr. Eastwood and Mr. Lurie together. The two share a very positive partnership. Strike is an intriguing take on a war film, mostly because it’s Scott in nearly every scene. He opened up about taking on such an opportunity and even added a touch of self-deprecation. Having spoken to him before, Scott is always a genuinely kind dude and a little funny. And there are certainly moments where you catch a glimpse of dear old dad Clint in Scott’s eyes.
Rob Lurie had a bunch to say about the film’s story and its inspiration. Lurie and crew do a nice job of keeping the story realistic while creating tension. And ultimately, I’m excited to see what these two do next. Lucky Strike is yet another impressive war film, coming a few weeks after the terrific Pressure. Ultimately, I really appreciated both Scott and Rod, and it was a fun discussion about a tense little war thriller.
