Interviews: Vacation Directors & Stars Skyler Gisondo & Steele Stebbins!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It's always great to step into a film and have it surprise you in a good way. That was exactly my experience with VACATION from writing/directing team John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein – this is their feature film debut as directors. This is a fun flick that plays out more as a sequel as opposed to a remake, and we as the audience are all the better for it. Recently when I sat down with the two filmmakers, we discussed their approach and keeping it true to the original films. They even went with the awesome original version of "Holiday Road" by the legendary Lindsey Buckingham. This apporoach definitely worked for me.

During our time talking VACATION, we also chatted it up with the young actors Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins who portray James and Kevin Griswald. Their fantastic response to whether or not they had watched the original VACATION took me by surprise, but they sure went for it. I had a great time with this hilarious flick, as well as talking to the fine folks behind the new film. VACATION will be playing at a theatre near you starting tonight, with an official opening Wednesday, July 29th.
