The last time we covered director Rob Heydon's supernatural thriller ISABELLE was when it had its world premiere at the 2018 Busan International Film Festival. Since then the film has played at 33 different film festivals around the world. Now it's ready to begin its theatrical run and will be opening at Carlton Cinemas in Toronto on June 28th.

Said to be in the vein of ROSEMARY'S BABY and THE EXORCIST, ISABELLE was written by Donald Martin and tells the story of

an all-American couple living the dream, moving into a perfect New England neighbourhood, ready to start a family. Once settled, they soon descend into the depths of terror and paranoia, and must struggle to survive a genuine threat from a dark presence keen to end their very lives.

Martin explained the ROSEMARY'S BABY and THE EXORCIST comparison by saying,

ROSEMARY'S BABY isn’t a story about Satan. It's about a marriage. THE EXORCIST isn't a story about a possession. It’s about a mother and a daughter. These stories are firmly rooted in reality. (ISABELLE) is a story that, initially, is about a woman's depression after losing a baby and her husband's inability to grasp the full emotional implications of their son being stillborn. The husband was always the person who said, 'Everything's going to be all right. Everything's going to be all right.' But, suddenly, this couple finds themselves in a scenario where the husband can't say that anymore."

Adam Brody and Amanda Crew play the couple at the center of the story. They're joined in the cast by Zoe Belkin, Krista Bridges, Booth Savage, Dayo Ade, Michael Miranda, Alison Brooks, and Sheila McCarthy.

ISABELLE was produced by Heydon, with Martin, Sid Ganis, Joni Sighvatsson, and Rey Cuerdo executive producing.
