It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gets Friday the 13th-themed teasers

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA will continue its run as one of the longest-running live-action comedies in television history with its upcoming 13th season. To get you excited for the new season, a Friday the 13th-themed tease was put out yesterday, showing the gang dressed as 80’s slasher movie archetypes running from an ax-wielding maniac.

The image shows Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Frank (Danny DeVito) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson), but no sign of Dennis (Glenn Howerton). We know we won’t be seeing as much of him this season after his character left the gang at the end of season 12 to move to North Dakota to raise a son he sired. He may be back for an episode or two, but the tease certainly pushes the idea he won’t be around as much.

With the image comes a short video teaser as well, showing some of the series’ side characters telling truly scary stories.

Things will feel a lot different without Howerton around, but clearly, they have a plan to address his absence. Maybe they’re downplaying some sort of return, which could play a role in the whole season. I have no clue, all I know is that I am psyched for SUNNY’s return and to see the gang in a whole new series of shenanigans.

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA returns on FXX September 5.
