It’s Andy Muschietti to direct big-screen adaptation of Attack on Titan

Once Andy Muschietti finishes dealing with Pennywise in IT: CHAPTER TWO, the director will turn his attentions to monsters of a slightly larger size. Variety has reported that Warner Bros. has tapped Muschietti to direct a feature-film adaptation of Attack on Titan, the popular manga/anime series which is set in a world where humanity resides solely in cities surrounded by enormous walls put up as a defense against the Titans, a race of gigantic humanoids who seem to desire nothing more than to devour humans.

Written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, the Attack on Titan manga series quickly grew to include novels, video-games, a popular anime series, as well as a two-part live-action Japanese film. It's not hard to see why Warner Bros. would want to give the series a Western spin as the combination of action, mystery, and gruesome imagery is too good to pass up. David Heyman (FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM) will produce along with Masi Oka (Heroes) and Barbara Muschietti (IT).

Andy Muschietti is currently in production on IT: CHAPTER TWO which stars James McAvoy (X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX), Jessica Chastain (MOLLY'S GAME), Bill Hader (Barry), Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunters), James Ransone (The First), and Andy Bean (Here and Now) as the adult members of the Losers Club. The much-anticipated sequel is set for a September 6, 2019 release.
