It’s Chimichanga Time! Ryan Reynolds finalizes deal to star in Deadpool

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

UPDATE: It's a done deal. Reynolds will reprise the role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Screenwriter Rhett Reese tweeted the confirmation (See below):

Despite the film being greenlit thanks to that awesome leaked test footage a few months ago, it was not a sure thing that Ryan Reynolds would play the character of Wade Wilson. But, it looks like DEADPOOL will star the former Green Lantern after all as it is being reported by outlets including the star himself who shared this on Twitter today.

Ryan Reynold's comic book career has been less than stellar with GREEN LANTERN disappointing many back in 2011. Reynolds also previously played a version of Deadpool/Wade Wilson in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE that was lambasted by fans and critics alike. But, the test footage seems to have proven that Reynolds and Tim Miller plan to preserve the DEADPOOL fans know and love from the pages of Marvel Comics by keeping his trademark sense of humor and violent streak intact.

DEADPOOL is slated to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
