Jared Leto Suicide Squad Joker Laugh

Just as much as his twisted red smile and lime green hair, the Joker's laugh is a big part of what makes the villain so unnerving. We'll be hearing that distinctive laugh once again as Jared Leto's take on the Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD is mere months away. Much has been written about how Leto approached the role and the rather unique gifts that he sent his fellow cast-members, but while chatting with the hosts of CNBC's Squawk Box, he discussed how he went about developing the Joker's iconic laugh.

I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laugh would kind of get under people’s skin. You know when you hear someone laugh at a restaurant? It’s a little jarring. I tried them out. And I kind of got to a place where I would laugh and people are always turning around like, "What is this creepy guy behind me?"

I'd imagine all was forgiven once they realized that the "creepy guy" was the perpetually youthful Jared Leto. We've heard a little of Leto's Joker laugh thanks to the various SUICIDE SQUAD trailers which been released, but I suspect that we won't get the full effect until we actually get to sit down for SUICIDE SQUAD on August 5, 2016.

Which actor has had the best Joker laugh?
