Jesse Eisenberg & Alexander Skarsgard eyed for Hummingbird Project drama

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

It's being reported today that Jesse Eisenberg (AMERICAN ULTRA, ZOMBIELAND) and Alexander Skarsgard (TRUE BLOOD, THE LEGEND OF TARZAN) are at the head of the pack to star in an upcoming drama set in the world of High Frequency Trading, where the winner of the deal is measured by a matter of nanoseconds. The project hails from TWO LOVERS AND A BEAR and WAR WITCH helmer Kim Nyugen, who aims to tell a tale of two cousins whose goal it is to make millions from a fiber-optic cable run between Kansas and Jersey City. From what I've gathered, one will be the hustler, and the other the brains of the operation. As the two family members fight tooth and nail to win the trade, a psychopathic trader and former boss will stop at nothing to see pair go down in flames.

When speaking about the film, Nyugen stated that it's, "a film that talks about caveats in our financial system, but at its core it is an adventure with heart and soul," said Nguyen. "When I started writing the story I immediately thought that it had a really, really cool plot, and that there was a genuine purpose for bringing it to the screen. Jesse and Alexander are the ideal duo for this project, I couldn't be more thrilled."

I must admit that, at a glance, this doesn't sound like my kind of film. I once endured a mildly traumatic experience where, "for the betterment of my future", I was subjected to an entire afternoon of learning stock market math from my very adamant grandfather. I'll never forget the way I scowled at him for the duration of that visit.

Seeing as this project is just getting underway, it will likely be some time before we learn of any more details. In the meantime, you can catch Jesse Eisenberg when we returns as Lex Luthor in Warner Bros. and DC's JUSTICE LEAGUE (opening in theaters on November 17, 2017). Additionally, look for Alexander Skarsgard when he appears in the upcoming war drama THE KILL TEAM.
