Has actor Joaquin Phoenix had his fill of the biz?
That’s what the still-young thesp tells Extra: “I’m not doing films anymore,” he bluntly stated at a recent Paul Newman benefit. And apparently he means it: “Yeah. I’m working on my music. I’m done. I’ve been through that.”
Could it just be bit of momentary frustration from the actor, whose releases following his Oscar-nominated turn as Johnny Cash (namely RESERVATION ROAD and WE OWN THE NIGHT) weren’t exactly well-received? Not if chum Casey Affleck and Phoenix’s representatives are to be believed, as both of them made comments to support the departure claim.
It remains to be seen if Phoenix just needs some time away from the Hollywood Machine, but he currently doesn’t have anything on his slate beyond the drama TWO LOVERS (in the can and awaiting release). Hmmm.
