In 2013, the United States president (Cliff Robertson) is exiling all citizens who don't conform to his hyper-conservative views to Los Angeles, which became an island after a huge earthquake. But, when the president's daughter nabs the detonator to her dad's apocalyptic weapon and sneaks into L.A. to be with the rebel leader she loves, the government taps commando-turned-crook Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) to retrieve the young woman. And, if he doesn't succeed quickly, he'll be executed.

ESCAPE FROM L.A. was directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Debra Hill and Kurt Russell based on characters Carpenter created with Nick Castle. Hill and Russell also produced the sequel which starred Russell as Snake Plissken along with Steve Buscemi as Map to the Stars Eddie, Peter Fonda as Pipeline, Cliff Robertson as President, Valeria Golino as Taslima, Stacy Keach as Cmdr. Malloy, Pam Grier as Hershe Las Palmas, and Bruce Campbell as Surgeon General of Beverly Hills. Paramount Pictures released it back on August 9, 1996.

Meanwhile, John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM L.A. will be released on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray via Scream Factory on April 28, 2020
