Keanu Reeves, Directors David Leitch & Chad Stahelski return for John Wick 2

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It’s official: JOHN WICK is coming back…again! Lionsgate has made it official and announced that Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as the hitman avenging his wife and dog in last year’s surprise hit action film. JOHN WICK 2 will also see the return of directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski who have been in high demand since the first film was released to massive buzz. No additional cast or release date news was announced.

Lionsgate President of Acquisitions Jason Constantine released this statement about the sequel.

“With such tremendous fan and critical support for JOHN WICK, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell. We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

Stahelski and Leitch have been rumored to take on directing duties for the Chris Pratt vehicle COWBOY NINJA VIKING and are attached to direct Valiant Comics movie adaptation of BLOODSHOT. It is unclear when they will find time to make JOHN WICK 2, but with the first film budgeted at just $20 million and filming over three months, maybe they could squeeze it in before either of those two projects.

While we don’t know the plot for JOHN WICK 2, the directors already have some ideas. Either way, JOHN WICK is back, baby!
