Killing Eve season 4 shoot delayed indefinitely due to coronavirus concerns

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Production on season 4 of BBC America's Killing Eve has hit an indefinite snag due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shooting on the fourth season has been postponed indefinitely as the show's complicated European shooting schedule has proven to be problematic in the wake of the coronavirus.

Sid Gentle Films was originally aiming to start shooting on the drama in August, as has been the case with the past three seasons. The company has now abandoned those plans and has not set a new start date to begin shooting season 4. It is expected that they could resume shooting later this year but an official date has not been set to get cameras rolling on the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama.

The main culprit for the delay is because Killing Eve is pretty much a jigsaw of European location shoots, many of which been rendered pretty difficult at this time due to the pandemic. Producers were being secretive about where season 4 will take Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) but past locations across the first three seasons include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bucharest, and Tuscany.

The Killing Eve production delay will certainly push back its premiere date in 2021 which will be new for the show since it works on a fairly fast turnaround basis with shooting taking place late summer through the fall, before premiering in early April on BBC America. A spokesperson for the show had this to say about the postponed shoot:

"Killing Eve shoots across multiple European locations. Due to the uncertainty of the world as a result of Covid-19, no shooting schedules for Killing Eve season four have been locked in at this point and there are various scenarios in play."

Between this news and the scheduling changes with A QUIET PLACE PART II and TOP GUN: MAVERICK, I fell like a woke up in a more enhanced COVID-19 dream that decided to screw up more of the industry just for fun this morning. Hey 2020, maybe fight back a little. I think you could use a win.

When do YOU think Killing Eve will get back in front of the cameras?
