After double-dipping into “Hell on earth” scenarios with CONSTANTINE and I AM LEGEND, where will director Francis Lawrence go next? How about… a chopsockey version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?
Lawrence is making Disney’s SNOW AND THE SEVEN, an “East meets West” update of the classic fairy tale set in a British colony in China during the late 19th century. It follows a young woman believed by Shaolin monks to hold the key to the future within her deathblow-dealing hands. These seven monks will no doubt have identifying characteristics with endearing nicknames to match.
Martial arts maestro Yuen Wo Ping (the original director when the project was initially announced several years ago) will be handling the various wire-assisted fisticuffs. Wo Ping and his choreography team have worked on THE MATRIX and KILL BILL films, while he himself has directed Hong Kong kung fu epics such as WING CHUN and IRON MONKEY.
