Kyle McLachlan confirmed to return for Showtime’s Twin Peaks sequel series

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It has been over a decade since David Lynch‘s television series TWIN PEAKS concluded with the original movie TWIN PEAKS FIRE WALK WITH ME and now we are on the verge of a limited follow-up to air on Showtime. The fact that Lynch would even tackle such a project is a rare and special occurrence that would only be made better by the news that star Kyle McLachlan is coming back to star.

The news broke at the ongoing Television Critics Association events occurring this week where we learned that the series will begin production this year for release in 2016 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the series debut on ABC. The show will run for 9 episodes and will explore the same stories and themes as the original show and potentially tie up the mysteries that have lingered for over two decades.

Here’s how the reveal happened.

“You look like you need damn fine cup of coffee,” he said, sauntering out onstage to join Showtime president David Nevins. The exec introduced MacLachlan, then saying, “He’ll be leading the show, and there’ll be more cast coming on as we roll through.”

Who else will be coming back is still unknown but with TWIN PEAKS veterans like Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, David Duchovny, and Ray Wise still kicking, hopefully we will see all sorts of reunions. Stay tuned for more details.
