Lin Shaye: James Wan wants Insidious 5 to revisit Lambert family

Like many of the rest of you guys out there, one of my favorite modern horror franchises is Blumhouse's INSIDIOUS series. And today Lin Shaye tells Bloody Disgusting’s "The Boo Crew" Podcast that while her character is 100% dead – and won't be in the possible fifth INSIDIOUS flick – she's heard that James Wan wants INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 5 to go back to the first film and explore the family Lambert more.

Shaye said:

I know [co-creator] James [Wan] had thoughts about going back to the first Insidious and exploring that family.

She then added:

I’ve asked about it! I know [my character is] dead, okay. I’m finally, really dead, and only in the Further in whatever [sequel] they do. There was some talk at one point – [but] nothing’s been talked about further. I think Blumhouse is so busy right now with so many things. But I don’t know the answer. I know there’s been some talk of a possible [fifth Insidious], and I’ve heard talk about an outline, and it wouldn’t have Elise featured – I am seriously in the Further.

Patrick Wilson's recently said he's still open to the franchise, saying:

I never look at anything as closed. I don’t know what you would do, but I never felt like it was closed. I just felt like for Josh Lambert, we’ve already seen him possessed and free of possession. There’s not a whole lot for that guy to do anymore. I don’t know where they would want to go with the series, but I never close any doors. There’s no big red door that’s closed.

Are you up for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 5? Let us know below! The original film centered on parents Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne who take drastic measures when it seems their new home is haunted and their comatose son, Ty Simpkins, is possessed by a malevolent entity.

James Wan directed the first INSIDIOUS from a screenplay written by Leigh Whannell. Jason Blum produced along with Steven Schneider and Oren Peli. It starred Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Barbara Hershey. FilmDistrict unleashed the Blumhouse Production into theaters back on April 1, 2011.
