When it comes to choosing the music for trailers and TV spots, the marketing team working on GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS has made unexpected decisions. I never would have thought that previews of a movie about Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidorah, and Rodan smashing into each other would have a version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" playing over the images, but that has happened. If anyone had told me that the final look at the 2019 film before its release would be set to the sounds of LL Cool J's 1991 song "Mama Said Knock You Out", I would have laughed at the idea… And yet here we are, in the reality where the final look at GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS has "Mama Said Knock You Out" playing over shots of Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidorah, and Rodan wreaking havoc and beating the hell out of each other.

Directed by TRICK 'R TREAT's Michael Dougherty from a script he wrote with his KRAMPUS collaborator Zach Shields and GODZILLA 2014 / KONG: SKULL ISLAND's Max Borenstein, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS will follow

the heroic efforts of Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species thought to be mere myths rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Zhang Ziyi, Aisha Hinds, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Randy Havens, Jonathan Howard, Anthony Ramos, Bradley Whitford, Elizabeth Ludlow, David Strathairn, and Ken Watanabe play the human characters who get caught in the middle of this monster mash.

A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, in association with Toho Co., Ltd., this film has been produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, and Brian Rogers. Zach Shields, Barry Waldman, Hiro Matsuoka, Keiji Ota, Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Yoshimitsu Banno, and Kenji Okuhira serve as executive producers, with Ali Mendes and Jay Ashenfelter co-producing for Legendary.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS will be reaching theatres in 2D, 3D, and IMAX presentations on May 31st. Apparently it's a knockout.
