Are Platinum Dunes single handedly taking over the horror genre? That seems to be the case as of late. THE UNBORN and FRIDAY THE 13TH are both big releases early next year and have been seeing some major time all over this wonderful internet lately. Add to that the fact that it was just announced that Platinum Dunes are now doing the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake as their next film and they’ve got a pretty full plate!
But let’s not forget about THE HORSEMEN. Oh, you haven’t even heard of THE HORSEMEN? Shame. I first heard about it myself from Brad Fuller and Andrew Form themselves while on the set of FRIDAY THE 13TH. Immediately I figured it was some movie based on the ongoing legend of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horsemen. Boy was I wrong…
A recently widowed detective still grieving over his wife’s death discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. That’s the synopsis and that sounds awesome! I’ve made it no secret that I’m a big fan of serial killer flicks and this one sounds deliciously twisted! It comes from director Jonas Akerlund with a script by Dave Callaham. Word just hit the net that Lionsgate has scored the rights for THE HORSEMEN and are planning a theatrical release on March 13.
