Long-rumored Jabba The Hutt and Boba Fett spinoffs reportedly in development

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Today, Variety is reporting that, according to sources, stand-alone films featuring Jabba the Hutt and Boba Fett are currently in development over at Disney and Lucasfilms.

This news comes fresh off of yesterday's announcement that a stand-alone adventure featuring the Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is currently being worked on with BILLY ELLIOT director Stephen Daldry on board to helm the STAR WARS spinoff.

For the moment, there is no script penned for the Obi-Wan Kenobi film, nor are there materials set for the Jabba the Hutt or Boba Fett spinoffs. Both of the latter films I've just mentioned have been rumored for quite some time, with many fans climbing the walls for a chance to see their favorite franchise bounty hunter in a dedicated film.

Wow, okay. Personally, I've never seen Jabba as the "leading man" type, but hey, the STAR WARS universe has presented us more than than a few surprises in the past, right? How do you feel about these spinoff projects? Are you excited to see one of the saga's coolest-looking bounty hunters running a cinematic solo-mission? Are you curious about what Jabba gets up to when he's not abusing slaves or eating strange alien cuisine? While I think both sound cool, I must admit that I'm far more interested in what the Jabba film turns out to be.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

We'll be sure to bring you any news regarding all of these STAR WARS spinoffs as it happens. Until then, may the force be with you, always!
