Margot Robbie has pitched Poison Ivy joining Harley Quinn in the DCEU

Margot Robbie really wants Poison Ivy to appear in the DCEU. The popular DC villain has yet to make an appearance in the DC Extended Universe but it's not for a lack of trying on Robbie's part. The actress has revealed that she has been pitching the idea to Warner Bros. for years and, during a recent interview with "Den of Geek", she said she will continue with her lobbying to make it happen.

"Trust me, I chew their ear off about it all the time. They must be sick of hearing it, but I'm like, 'Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy. Come on, let's do it.' I'm very keen to see a Harley-Poison Ivy relationship on screen. It'd be so fun. So I'll keep pestering them. Don't worry."

Poison Ivy is actually closely associated with the Harley Quinn character in other mediums so it wouldn't be far-fetched for them to meet up on the big screen. The union almost happened in Gotham City Sirens but that project has seemed to languish in development hell.  Robbie previously stated, to "PrideSoruce", that the Harley-Poison Ivy intimate relationship is one she'd like to explore in the DCEU:

"If you read the comics you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics you can see that they're actually sexually involved as a couple. I've been trying to-I would love to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because the Harley and Poison Ivy relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I'm looking to explore that on screen."

Director of Birds of Prey, Cathy Yan, has also expressed interest in exploring the Harley Quinn-Poison Ivy relationship in a film. Yan was once asked about going that route in a follow-up to Birds of Prey if there was one and Yan stated at the time that she'd "love to see Poison Ivy" and her relationship with Harley take shape in another film, Given the fact that Birds of Prey underperformed at the box office, I doubt we will get to see that happen in a follow-up to that film but it's still a possibility down the line.

The only time Poison Ivy has been played on the big screen was in 1997's Batman & Robin. While the film is polarizing and mostly hated, Uma Thurman's take on the role has gotten positive feedback in subsequent years because of its campy and over-the-top nature. On the small screen, Poison Ivy has appeared in various DC TV shows such as the animated Harley Quinn, voiced by Lake Bell, and on Gotham played at different times by Clare Foley, Maggie Geha, and Peyton List.
