Martin Freeman will take on zombies in Cargo

Producer Kristina Ceyton had global success the last time she teamed up with a first time feature filmmaker, a collaboration that resulted in THE BABADOOK. Now we'll see if that success can be repeated with a zombie project called CARGO, which will mark the feature directorial debuts of Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke.

CARGO is an expansion of a 7 minute short Howling and Ramke made a few years ago. Since being uploaded to YouTube in February of 2013, the short has racked up over 10 million views. The story centers on

a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.

Casting is already underway on the film, which is expected to go into production in Australia this fall, and they have landed a fantastic actor for the role of the father: Martin Freeman, who you might know as Tim from the British version of The Office, Bilbo in the HOBBIT movies, Watson on Sherlock, Lester Nygaard on Fargo, or from his appearances in SHAUN OF THE DEAD and the other Cornetto films. He can currently be seen in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

Freeman is awesome, and I'm looking forward to watching him carry this zombie thriller on his shoulders while carrying a baby in his arms.
