HEREDITARY writer/director Ari Aster's new nightmare MIDSOMMAR (pre-order HERE) will be released on Blu-ray and DVD next month. And today we have the film's screenplay for you guys to check out. You can go ahead and give the MIDSOMMAR script a look-see RIGHT HERE.

I went ahead and did a quick sweep of the script and read the first 20 some-odd pages to make sure it was legit, and it seems to be. In fact, if my crap-ass memory serves, this script is almost beat-for-beat and line-for-line the same as Aster's final film – which is rare. Anyhow, after giving it a read, make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think!

Rated R for "disturbing ritualistic violence and grisly images, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and language," it's as an "apocalyptic breakup," "Scandinavian folk horror" tale along the lines of THE WICKER MAN – and simply, "WIZARD OF OZ for perverts."

More specifically, MIDSOMMAR tells the tale of  

a teenage guy who wants to break up with his girlfriend, however, holds off after a personal tragedy. This emotional build-up happens to be occurring as both are headed to a crazy 9-day festival, which only happens every 90 years, a Swedish-puritan type celebration of love and glee — with some horrific results. 

Written and directed by Ari Aster MIDSOMMAR stars Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Will Poulter, Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, and Ellora Torchia. It is now available on Digital via A24 on and hits Blu-ray and DVD via Lionsgate on October 8, 2019. Pre-order HERE.
