More in State of Play

JoBloJoBlo

This political thriller STATE OF PLAY is turning into quite a talent magnet. The project already features Brad Pitt, Ed Norton and Jason Bateman, but clearly that’s not enough. So wait! There’s more.

Dotted starlet Rachel McAdams, regal Oscar-winner Helen Mirren and former princess bride Robin Wright-Penn have added some feminine countermeasures to the boys club. The story (an adaptation of a British miniseries) finds Pitt as a reporter investigating Norton’s congressman, suspected of murdering his mistress. McAdams plays an eager journalist, Mirren is the ruthless editor (castrating the role played by Bill Nighy in the original) and Wright Penn is the politician’s estranged wife.

The Universal movie is directed by Kevin McDonald (from THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, not THE KIDS IN THE HALL) and is clearly aiming for some awards, if not just a lot of attention.
