It was just a few hours ago that Mike told you all that Briana Evigan and Alexa Vega were the two newest names to celebrate MOTHER’S DAY along with the already announced Deborah Ann Woll. It’s only been a couple hours but in the day and age of Twitter we’ve already got another MOTHER’S DAY casting announcement for you all!

Darren Lynn Bousman posted the following on his Twitter, which was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter: “Ton’s of casting news… Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, Jamie King Mothers Day is going to be INSANE!!!! JAMIE KING will play BETH in Mothers Day!!!!!”

So as you can see Mr. Bousman has secured Shawn Ashmore and Jamie King for his remake of the 1980 Troma flick. THR have also confirmed that Matt O’Leary has signed onto the project. The question is who will these people be playing?? Jamie King (below) will be playing ‘Beth,’ obviously. She is the woman of the house terrorized by the psychotic family, a wife who has lost her child and is isolating herself from her husband. Now I had hopes we’d be seeing Ashmore (above) as one of the psycho sons of the twisted family… but alas that isn’t the case. Ashmore will once again be playing the good guy. He and Evigan will be playing house-guests of King’s when the whole shebang goes down. O’Leary will be one of the Mother’s sons, joining Deborah Ann Woll in the family.

Now earlier today Bousman posted a very interesting tweet: “OMG on the phone with an academy award winner and multiple nominee actor for MD!!!!” Now to my knowledge none of those names above have won an Academy Award… so it’s very intriguing as to who he was chatting with. Any predictions? The updated MOTHER’S DAY is penned by Scott Milam and is a psychological thriller in which the wicked family returns to the house where they grew up to terrorize the new owners and their guests. Bousman adds:

“What we’re trying to do is elevate this outside of a genre movie. I’ve done three ‘Saw’ films, I’ve done ‘Repo,’ and yes, this is horrific at times, but it’s much darker and deeper because of the focus on the characters.”

So what do you think? Are we looking at the same old Lynn Bousman for MOTHER’S DAY or will we be seeing something completely different? MOTHER’S DAY starts rolling in just 4 weeks so keep it here for the rest of the casting announcements!
