Adam Sandler to voice Dracula in Hotel Transylvania

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Adam Sandler has signed on to voice Count Dracula in the upcoming Sony Pictures Animation film HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA. Wait, where are you going? Yeah, I know that Adam Sandler news doesn’t always go over like gangbusters, which includes voiceover work considering his upcoming stint as Donald the monkey in ZOOKEEPER, but hear me out on this one.

TRANSYLVANIA is being directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, one of the most talented animation directors to have not directed a feature length film. You likely know Tartakovsky’s work from “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Samurai Jack” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” His talent has not been entirely ignored by Hollywood as he was part of the creative team on IRON MAN 2 and created an animated prologue for Sony’s PRIEST. (He also at one time was attached to direct a remake of THE DARK CRYSTAL but that project never got off the ground.)

Despite being attached to more serious-minded fare over the past few years, TRANSYLVANIA will be a straight comedy. In the film, Sandler will star as Dracula who runs a fancy hotel for monsters in his native land. Trouble arises when his daughter falls in love with the new boy in town, Jonathan Van Helsing. Romeo and Juliet shit ensues.

Also joining the film is Kevin James, who will be voicing Frankenstein. No, don’t leave! I know I spent the past two paragraphs defending this movie but seriously… Will it help if I tell you David Space is voicing Quasimodo? Fran Drescher as Bride of Frankenstein? … No? Well Steve Buscemi is also on-board to play The Wolfman and Samberg is voicing Lil Van Helsing so you got that going for you.

As previously mentioned, Sandler can be heard next in ZOOKEEPER and has JACK AND JILL, where he plays his own twin sister (yes…) set for release this November.
