Alan Silvestri will return to score the Avengers: Infinity War films

For those of you who saw CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and were hoping for a more epic and classical sound regarding the score (sorry Henry Jackman!), you can rest assured that the Russo brothers will be rectifying this going forward. AlanSilvestri.com has just reported that (surprise) Alan Silvestri will return to score both INFINITY WAR films. The man is no stranger to Marvel, having created the Captain America theme in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, and going on to score Joss Whedon's first AVENGERS film.

I'll be the first to tell you that most Marvel scores aren't particularly memorable, but I do have a soft spot for Silvestri's theme for Cap, even if it doesn't rank up there with the best of the man's work. Still, a composer's relationship with his director(s) makes all the difference. Look at John Williams' scores for the first two Harry Potter films, and then PRISONER OF AZKABAN (of which Alfonso Cuaron directed). I'm hoping that the Russos will bring Silvestri to his A-game!

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - PART I will open in theaters on May 4, 2018.
