Berg talks Hancock 2

You remember HANCOCK right? The summer blockbuster that made hundreds of millions of dollars that nobody really thought twice about afterwards? Well, since anything that is profitable deserves a sequel, Peter Berg talked to Sci-fi Wire about a possible second go-round, where he says there will most likely be a “third god” thrown into the equation.

But when can we actually expect another film? TBD, says Berg. “They like to fast-track it, but Will’s busy, I’m pretty busy…We’re excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don’t feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.” Yeah, I don’t really feel a burning imperative for you to go right back into it either.

HANCOCK is one half of an excellent movie that failed when for unknown reasons, it started to take itself really seriously. Mythos? Gods? Shut up, we just wanted Will Smith as an asshole superhero, how hard is that? If they realize their mistake with the first film, and fix it for the second, I’d be all for it, but otherwise, I couldn’t really care less.
